Medicine Use Review (MUR) & New Medicine Service (NMS) Consultation

Here at Gees Pharmacy these NHS funded consultations are offered free of charge for our patients

We now have a warm and inviting professional consultation room here at Gees Pharmacy and would be delighted if you would like to visit us, by prior arrangement, for your Medicines Use Review (MUR) or New Medicine Service (NMS) consultation.

The Medicines Use Review

During a medicine use review the pharmacist will discuss with you what your medicines are taken for, how you take your medicines and offer healthy living advice.

This can be particularly useful if you have started a new medication regime due to illness or following hospital discharge.  The consultation shouldn’t take any longer than ten to twenty minutes.

This consultation can be carried out in our consultation room, over the telephone or at your home.

The New Medicine Service

The new medicines service is offered to patients who are being prescribed certain medicines for the first time.  The pharmacist will discuss your medicines and offer healthy living advice.  The new medicine service consists of two consultations about fourteen days apart.

There has been a very welcoming uptake and feedback for this service.

If you prefer, these services can also be offered through our telephone service.

During your appointment, you will have the opportunity to discuss your medicine with our qualified pharmacist.

This consultation can be carried out in our consultation room, over the telephone or at your home.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that if you do visit our consultation room, we cannot during your visit to Gees Pharmacy

  • receive any prescriptions
  • take payments for prescriptions
  • accept unwanted/waste medicines
  • hand out any medicines

but you can continue to use our delivery and collection service as usual and we can arrange an immediate service for your needs.

Please feel free to call us anytime on 01420 489110 to make any extra arrangements or discuss your requirements.
